Experimental Watermedia Workshop

June 22, 2024
June 22-23, 2004
10am-4pm
The Eden Gallery
$220 (includes materials)

One of my students favorite workshops, this workshop is designed to explore a variety of techniques and "what would happen if" ideas using a broad variety of common household products, tools, trash, organics, papers and miscellaneous art materials, and water based paints and inks that you might not have tried before. The object is to remain open to all sorts of possibilities!! Please bring your own paint in tubes, your regular palette, paper, Gator boards, brushes, sponges, and spray bottles etc. Also consider bringing old paintings to use for collage or to try to resurrect. I will have papers for sale and provide many of the material listed below, but if you have items to add to the fun, please bring them to share. We may have numerous paintings in various stages during the workshop, or you may wish to consider putting your experiments into a book format with notes on your process and discoveries. Wear hats, sunscreen, old shoes, aprons etc. we will be a bit messy! FUN!!!

If you have any water media paints or papers you may not know how to use or don't use and would like to donate to the cause, we would all like to experiment with them. We will explore pouring spraying, splashing, spattering, collage, rice papers, Yupo Paper, hot pressed watercolor papers, several watercolor mediums on different surfaces, imprinting, stencils, sand painting, inks, acrylic inks, watercolor pencils, liquid watercolors, gesso, aquapasto, and more. We will run out of time before we run out of options. Again, don't worry about all the unusual products and items listed. If you have a few, bring what you have. Don't feel like you need to run out a buy special things for this workshop. This is why I am providing a lot of these for you. Plan to cut loose and experience creativity on many levels with a fun filled day outside. Bring a friend and a lunch. Pray for no rain! See you at the studio!

Teaching comes natural to Kay. She makes learning the sometimes-difficult medium of watercolor easy and fun in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Painting is a skill: You have muscle memory in fingers and eyes. With practice, you can develop your skills.
